Exactly 6 months ago was my first day at work. Working at Pacblue has been a huge blessing for me. Before working there, I was actively searching for a job for almost a year. It was very difficult for me to find a job because I graduated at the worst time... during the recession... fail. Every Tuesday at prayer meeting, I remember that my only prayer request was to find a job. Countless resumes and cover letters were sent out but I hardly got replies. What made it even more difficult was that the job position that I was looking for requires work experience which I didn't have. I was so frustrated and I had thoughts of giving up and to just work at my part-time job instead. Even in those tough times, family and friends have been constantly praying for me. I soon realized that no matter what happens, you just have to trust in the lord.
One day after I finished work at my part time job, I got a voicemail from Pacblue and that wanted to have an interview with me. I called them right away and set an appointment with them. Once I hung up the phone, I was so excited that I instantly forgot when the interview was. It was quite embarrassing but thankfully they still wanted me to come to the interview when I called them back to confirm the time. Lesson learnt: Write down the information from important phone calls.
During the past 6 months, I've made many new friendships with my coworkers. I think I am the youngest person there but many are around my age. I was put into a team and I love working with them. We have been a lot closer to the point of sharing about our personal lives and even about religion. When work gets tiring and rough with overtime or rare shifts on the weekend, I still feel it is a blessing from God to be employed. Now every Tuesday at prayer meeting, my prayer request is praising God for my job and for me to shed his light at work.
Some people say that I am now in a different life stage.. that may be true but I still have the mind of a 16 year old. =P
